Fr Felim McGovern RIP

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Fr Felim McGovern who died on Thursday 13th September, peacefully at College View Nursing Home. Fr Felim served as CC of Laragh between 1967 – 1970. A man of deep faith, he reached out to so many regardless of their religion, race or creed. He touched the lives of so many and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Requiescat in Pace.

Happy Birthday Maureen

Our oldest parishioner Maureen Rahill, celebrated her 100th Birthday on St. Patrick’s Day. Maureen was born on 17th March 1917 to her parents Bridget (nee McCabe) and Michael Sexton in the townland of Knockateggart. She is the last surviving member of her three brothers Patrick, Stephen and Edward. She married Bernard Rahill in 1951 and moved from home stead of Knockateggart to Caulfied at the other end of the parish. They welcomed a son Brian, whom she resides with in Caulfield. We congratulate Maureen on reaching this great milestone and wish her continued health for many years to come.

Maureen attended Mass in Laragh on St Patrick’s Day with her family. Fr Brian presented her with a personalised framed bronze St. Brigid’s Cross and Siobhan Brady, Secretary of Laragh Pastoral Council presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
