The Official Opening of Laragh National School
The official opening of the extension to Laragh National School took place on Monday 18 June 2012. The extensive refurbishment and extension programme took just over 15 months to complete and was opened by Shane McEntee, Minister of State in the Dept of Agriculture and the Blessing was performed by Bishop Leo O’ Reilly. The local community turned out in large numbers to celebrate the opening and the Parents’ Association provided the refreshments for all present.
With the completion of the extension and full refurbishment of the existing school, the accommodation now comprises of five permanent classrooms, a learning support room, a resource room, staffroom, principal’s office, general office, an unique PE Hall and ancillary accommodation.
The community of Laragh now has a school that will serve the children of present and future generations well and one of which the people can rightfully be proud off.
